Can your headaches be due to simple dust?

Yes, from experience I tell this story! You probably know by now we have moved to the Hills. During my time of unpacking I have been having terrible sinus headaches that have turned into a migraine during the night. It got to the point that I was so tired from night after night of no sleep that I was continually in tears. Of course Honey was praying for me and I started crying out to God to show me what was going on so I could, if at all possible, change it. Several times I just set and relived the last couple of days and asked myself is there anything that I have done that could have provoked this? I tried everything, I signed up at pollen.com and started keeping a diary of my daily allergy symptoms. You can find a link to this about halfway down my page on the right hand side. The thought came to me dust and boxes. Sooo I started leaving my boxes in the garage, instead of honey bringing them in a few at a time, and instantly my headaches got better. I still have a stuffy head and light headache from time to time, probably from working in the garage, but I have not had a migraine in a week now! There are times when just praying and thinking helps me more than an allergy doctor.

While I finish unpacking I have been taking a Allegra D every morning and then a Tylenol sinus/allergy at night. Hey it may be a little much but it seems to work for me.

Punkin is starting to want to share EVERYTHING, I'm thankful for that because being the only child at this time she could NOT want to share everything.

This is what she does when she is sleepy or just waking up. It was so funny I was cuddling her and she decided that she needed to share her blankie. Every time I took it down she would put it right back up to my nose. When I started holding it there she would look at me and fall out laughing! I have to admit I look kind of funny here!

Punkin and A came and spent a few days with me while the men were harvesting. We had so much fun shopping, eating and relaxing. If there is nothing else to do here you can ALWAYS eat!

Photos from our visit:

I was taking care of Punkin and putting on my make-up while her mom was taking a  shower. When all else fells a big tub comes in handy!

Do I dare? Bless her heart the water would have drowned her, but she didn't!

She loves holding Syd on a leash, now I don't think Syd likes it at all but she doesn't complain only looks at you a little sad.

I thought she was going to kiss her!

Gammy made her eggs, I think this was her first.

And I don't think she really liked them.

Aunt Gail sent us a gift and Punkin loved the box!

Sitting in Gammy's chair, she doesn't think chairs are made to sit in. You either stand in them or push them.

She usually tumbles out forward but this time she slipped out and stood up. I think I was holding her right arm.

I was praising her on how good she did, this is her smile!

Always into something.

First Ranch dressing at Crystal Grill! Sometimes I wonder if our children really want to see us or just go eat at Crystal Grill. We all love it!

Next weekend my other grand babies will be in town and I am soooo excited. Get ready for Gammy to brag, there'll be lots of photos I'm sure! I need to start cooking now so I can just take photos then! LOL

Just when I start making progress...............

Ok, here it is, I finished painting my little room yesterday. I was tired and sore but pumped because i knew that I could do it. I had great plans for today and this morning at one I woke up with a VERY BAD sinus headache. I took my usual medicine and laid down with a heating pad (my daughter made, thanks Sarah) on my head. About thirty minutes later I had to get up and reheat the pad, about thirty minutes after that I had to get up and heat my pad again but this time I took a migraine pill because what started off sinus was not a full blown migraine. I tried to wake up Honey but he only mumbled. I could just see me having to go to the emergency room in a new town where I am not familiar with doctors right by myself. If anyone reading this blog lives in Greenwood or any surrounding area you may should give me references to a good after hours clinic or emergency room just in case I ever need one, and if I do I hope Honey responds with more than just a grunt.

Needless to say today I have NOT been outside, I thought it was too good to be true that I could stay outside in the hills and not get sick. And all this had to happen just when I started making progress.

Honey and I went to eat at Peppercorn Grill again tonight. This time  I only ordered a baked potato with grilled chicken on top. I asked that they leave all seasoning off the chicken except for salt and pepper. It was sooo good, I pray they listened.

After we ate we decided to ride around Carrollton, since it was still daylight we're always late going through there. We were amazed by the old homes that have been restored you can look at them yourself HERE! We went by Carroll Academy just to see what it was like and as we rounded a curve we saw this house. I was taken by it and I'm dying to know the history but for now this is all I have.
If you know anything about this little one room house leave me a comment. By the way, yes it's blurred Honey decided that he was in a hurry and let the truck roll before I was done. I took it over but he did it again.

That'll have to do you. I hope to have a better night tonight and that I can get something done tomorrow.

Mississippi Delta Sweet Corn

I'm so thankful that our son and daughter live close by and were able to be with Steve on Father's Day, I was home in bed. Yes, another migraine! I went swimming and out to eat the night before and looking back it could have been several things that caused the headache. At the restaurant we ate at I sent my steak back because they had put bread on my plate and they said that I got a new steak. Now I wonder if maybe they just took the bread off and served it to me anyway. Also there is corn pollinating all around the house that we swam at so that could have been my problem. When I got home that night I took my usual Benadryl and went to bed. I take one Benadryl every night to help me with my allergies the next day. I woke up at 1am with a sinus headache so I got up and took some Advil and returned to bed. (Always a mistake!) By 4am I was up and thought I would die. I took my pillow to the recliner, heated my sinus pad (thanks again Sarah) and tried to rest a while. It didn't work so I got up and took 1-Excedrin migraine and headed back to the recliner. Around 6 I gave up, got up and took a relpax. After napping I finally got over it and was able to fry fish and fries for Steve that night, gluten-free of course and it was great.

Steve left on Monday afternoon to return to the Delta and I followed on Tuesday morning.

I had a short stay in the Delta this time but it was different as Don and Jan (Steve's cousins) came for the day on Wednesday and we ate at my favorite restaurant "Crystal Grill". I am always pleased with the food there, a lot for your money!

We bought this sweet corn while in the Delta, we were told that many people don't like it because it is too sweet so we had to buy some to try. I can't imagine Sweet Corn that is too sweet and I was sooo correct. It is wonderful, it is some sweeter than the type we raise here in Macon but to tell you the truth I like it better. I ate my share and promised to eat more in the NEAR future!!!!

I am home now with Sydney again. Ben and Ashia are working at a golf tournament in Jackson and will return home later on. I have spent some of my time cleaning house since no one was here but Syd and I. Syd has done well but anytime I open my bedroom door she runs in searching the room over for her favorite person (Steve)!

Steve got in LATE Friday night. Syd goes to bed from 9 to 10 but I tried keeping her up. When Steve drove in she knew the truck, she had a fit and was up for a while playing. Steve sat down to eat and the photo above shows her sitting on his leg watching him. I know she was begging for food but she doesn't leave his side when he's home.

Syd playing with Steve, she waisted no time. She usually sleeps late but not today she got up early and started kissing Steve on the ear etc until he got up too. She was ready for some playing time. I tell you this dog is too smart.

I hope to cook more soon and share my experience with you. We travel so much these days that there's no time for a lot of cooking and to tell you the truth it's just too hot. I did bake a roast to go with the sweet corn last night and now I have to think of something to go with it tonight. UMM maybe a simple green salad!

Can a Migraine/Allergy Sufferer be a Farmer?

This is a question I’ve thought about from time to time. I help out on the farm by transporting workers and what we call chasing parts or making runs to pick up supplies but I have not done much else, until this trip to the delta. I have done my usual chasing supplies and helped Steve with several other things. Here are photos to tell what we had going on.

We have a crew putting up an equipment shed. After they left on Thursday I picked up some around the grounds and burned Steve’s seed bags.

We had someone come in and clean out a large ditch that runs through our farm and the farm of several others. We've had a lot of rain here so this was necessary. Steve and I checked out the work several times during the day. Pictured is Steve meditating on what is going on.

I helped clean and reassemble sprayer parts for the planter.

I watched to make sure none of the tubes were plugged, we had several that were but after applying water pressure they came clean fast.

At one point I looked close by and low and behold there was a birds nest that Steve had found in the planter laying on the ground.

If you look close in this photo Steve has the nest in his hand to return to where the mother was searching for it. He’s also returning a toolbox that I had taken to the field for him earlier. It may not have seemed heavy for him but it sure was to me.

I made several runs for supplies, after this one Steve had me come to the field so that he could get something out of the truck. When I pulled in he looked in the back of the pickup and asked did I go to town with the tailgate down. I told him, “if it’s down now I did”. He had place a gallon jug of chemical worth around $100 on the back of the truck and it was gone. Thank the good Lord we retraced my route and found it on side of the road where I had turned a curve.

It is bedtime and after a busy day we are ready for rest and relaxation.

Can a migraine/allergy sufferer be a framer, not this one Steve doesn't have to worry about me trying to run things! LOL

I woke up with a migraine this morning and have been sick all day. I guess it's from working outside so much yesterday it started off a bad sinus headache and turned into a migraine. I tried using my great little herb pack my daughter made me (thank you Sarah)! It helps my sinuses to start draining and relieves some of the pain when I heat it in the microwave and lay it across my eyes.

Now the rain has started and we have returned to Macon to attend church and celebrate Memorial Day. Hope you enjoyed your trip to Good Farms in the flat land.

Headaches in the storm!!!!

I hope you have or had a good Mother’s Day, I don’t think we always realize what a special day it is until we loose our mother. I always miss my Mom so much on Mother’s Day. For years I couldn’t stand to look at Mother’s Day cards but I am doing better in that area now, for those who have lost your Mom, healing of some things comes with time.

I feel as though I have not accomplished much this past week because I have been sick everyday with a headache. I've had to take my migraine medicine a couple of times (Relpax) and after that was useless. I thought at one time I had figured out something going on out of the ordinary that might be causing them I would even look forwarding to going to bed and getting some rest. But, I guess I was wrong because I corrected the problem but the headache is still with me. I have come to the point a couple of times this week of wanting to cry, I know I am just overly tired. This too shall pass, it always does. I just hating dealing with it day by day and not feeling like going anywhere are doing anything.

Sometimes I think my environmental allergies are worse than my problems with gluten. With celiac I can at least stay on my diet. With environmental if there is dust, pollen, grass, animals, mold, mildew and the list is enormous I get a headache. The different trees pollinating now could be triggering my headaches. Some of the main ones at this time are hickory, oak, pecan and ash. There are several of these around our house and farm so basically I live with headaches!

OK so here is my question. What do you cook and eat that is gluten-free when you don’t feel like cooking and have no leftovers? It's hard for me to eat anyway when I feel so bad and poor Steve he just about has to cook for himself.

I am keeping Sydney this weekend while Ben and Ashia are gone to Jackson to attend a baby shower for one of my cousins. When Sydney stays here we don't go outside and she misses that. She is puppy pad trained so I just keep fresh pads in her bathroom. Yes, she has her own bathroom at grandmas, if not every time someone goes in it she scratches on the door to get in. She is a little spoiled to say the least! This is a photo of her on her couch; she has her own blanket, toys and pillow! We call it hers because with my allergies I don't let her use my blanket etc.

Steve and I went riding around the farm to see how much the crops have grown in the last few days and Sydney (the dog) went with us. She enjoyed riding with her head out my window and letting her ears blow in the wind. Though she is not big enough to stand up to it by herself so she stood on my leg. She can be so funny, lazy too, she stood a while and then lay back with her head against me and her leg propped up on the window for a while. I guess she needed to rest. ☺

To make goulash.....

For supper last night I made one of our favorite dishes, goulash. I was in the grocery store and they had some fresh yellow squash that looked great so I bought some, I already had fresh sweet potatoes and carrots to add to the mix. To make goulash I use fresh vegetables, whatever you
have on hand. I clean and cut them up in chunks, add salt and pepper to taste and then mix in enough rice flour to coat. I fry them in a little EEOO (extra virgin olive oil) until brown and tender. My family absolutely loves this it is a dish my mom use to make every summer. You can use any combination of vegetables. My favorite is different types of squash, onions, potatoes, bell peppers and okra! UUMMM it is good, you need to try it.

Thanks for stopping by y'all and please come again soon!
