A Thanksgiving to Remember

We had Thanksgiving in our new home this year with ALL of our children and my Dad and it was great. These are memories that I hope we never forget and so I am posting some of the photos of our Thanksgiving photo shoot.

We may not be grand but we have great children who gave us grand-children!

Our beautiful family!

The siblings with their children.

The apples of our eyes!

The two babies of the family! Punkin just turned one and Little Man will be one soon.

I don't know if Little Man knew what to think of Punkin but she sure had fun!

I didn't think about it but I did not have a photo taken of me and my Dad. Thank you Ash for thinking for me!

I think out of all the photos this is my favorite. The is our middle daughter and her husband. One day we'll have babies to add to this beautiful family. By the way if you have not already check out Sarah's business on the side bar of my page.

Oh, by the way these we taken on our back deck what a blessing to have such a beautiful backdrop.

We don't take lightly a visit from our children we realize that they take time off and make long trips just to spend time with us and for that we are thankful.

I hope that you had as great a Thanksgiving as we all did!!!

Today treats.....

I have been busy cooking for my family to come for a visit. I am so excited about spending my first Thanksgiving in my new home with my children and grand-children. We will be celebrating Thanksgiving and Christmas because our children who live away will not be able to return for Christmas.

The gifts are all wrapped, the house is clean and smells like a Holiday....

Here are a few items I have made, click on the link to get the recipe. It's all Good and it's gluten free!!!

Coffee Shop Fudge
My family loves fudge and some of us love coffee so I was so excited to find this recipe and give it a try.

Pumpkin Streusel Cheesecake Bars
Though Pumpkin is not my favorite, when I read the recipe for these bars I knew that I had to try them. They are wonderful, this may be the beginning of a new tradition

Boiled Cookies
I've been making this recipe since Ash was a little girl. Now I make it with gluten free pure rolled oats so that I can have one. I think the taste is a little different but we love them just the same.

2 cups sugar
3 TBL cocoa
1/2 cup milk
1/2 stick butter
1/2 cup peanut butter
1 tsp. vanilla
3 cups quick oats, uncooked
Nuts (optional)

Mix first 4 ingredients together. Boil for 1 minute in medium pan. Remove; add peanut butter, vanilla, uncooked oats and nuts. Stir only enough to blend and drop by spoon on waxed paper. Let set about 30 minutes.

I will also be making my famous Chicken and Dressing made with My Favorite Cornbread recipe.

Enjoy your Thanksgiving ya'll...

Happy Birthday!

Monday was my Honey's birthday and he worked all day. I appreciate the sacrifices he makes for me. Happy Birthday Honey. Heart Beat

We enjoyed a lazy Sunday with my dad and some of our children. Our oldest daughter (Mary) and her family were in town for her mother and father-in-laws 50th wedding anniversary and they made a special attempt to come see us and the new house. Also our youngest children were here with their baby Punkin. Since Monday was Steve's birthday we had a special lunch for him on Sunday. What better birthday gift than to spend the afternoon with your children and grand-children?  I promise we would have it no other way.

While shopping for the kids to come for a visit I realized that "Wishbone" labels their dressings if they are gluten-free. When I find something like this I buy only that brand, so from this day forth Wishbone it is!

Honey's favorite dessert is apple pie. I try to make him an apple pie anytime there is a special occasion, it just makes it more special. Since it would be his birthday I wanted to make him a pie, but for some reason I wanted it to be different. Lord only knows why because it would be filled with gluten and I wouldn't know whether it was good or not, but I did. So I went to one of my favorite blogs "Deep South Dishes" and searched for a new apple pie recipe. I chose her "Old Fashioned Apple Pie" recipe and it was a hit, the family ate almost the whole thing even though I had a gluten-free yellow cake with chocolate frosting and chocolate chip cookies also with gluten.

Here are a few photos to share our time together!

Get Recipe HERE!
The only change I made was I used apple jelly instead of mango.

We had not seen them since February so this was a special treat! J was sooo full of personality and kept us laughing while the girls are growing into such young ladies.

Punkin played with our Chunky Monkey's phone.

But she really watched him when he had her tether.

After a while she decided that he didn't need it any longer.

G is always thinking..... Thinking

Our children and treasures!

A letter of apology. I'm horrible at taking photos! When I have company I just want to spend time with them and sometimes they leave before I realize that I missed getting photos of some of them. During the time I took these the older girls were upstairs playing so I totally missed them, but it doesn't mean that I love them any less. Maybe soon I can rob some good ones to share from Ashia, she always does a good job!

Walk with me through town!

It's been a fun, busy week. I will be unpacking for quiet a while but I took a break to be with some of my favorite people this week. It rained at the farm so B and A brought punkin to see us for a couple of days. When they called and said they were coming I took a quick inventory to see what I HAD to unpack and realized that I could make it maybe not as comfortable as in the past but I could make it just the same. I used my swiffter vac and ran over the new floors then I moped the old ones. I even had time to lay down and rest before they arrived although it didn't work out due to the phone ringing and thunder. Yes, we've had a small rain here everyday this week and I am thankful because my grass needs it plus my Dad had brought me a rose bush and set it out for me.

I don't have any photos except for a few of pumpkin, of course. Now I could kick myself but then I just didn't think about photos.

Walk with me through town:

Wednesday night we went to eat at Delta Bistro.

Honey and I had never been and I was wanting to go so we went with the kids. The food was different as you can tell on the menu but it was VERY GOOD. We really enjoyed it and I hope to go back in the future, it was a cultural experience.

Thursday morning after Pumpkin slept in and took her nap we went to K K's for lunch. A had eaten there with Farm Bureau in the past and said it was good so she took me to try it out. The food was really good again, another hit in town.

After K K's we visited Sweet Pea's a children's clothing store. We were looking for Punkin a specific size for the future and didn't find anything but we enjoyed browsing just the same.

Then we visited Turn Row Book Company
and found tons of things we could have bought but we refrained just the same. At this point A and I were so proud of ourselves because we went planning on buying.

Then we stopped by Fincher's a top of the line gift company and boy oh boy. I did good though I only bought one thing and it was on clearance. I will be returning there in the future.

After Fincher's we visited The Mississippi Gift Company
I love, love, love this store and had to buy a bottle of sauce that I always put in my stir fry.

we did the most important deal of the day, the kids went with us to pick out a washer and dryer at J. D. Lanham Supply Co. While there doing business A ran over to The Alluvian Spa for a manicure. Me and the guys took Punkin home for a nap but ten minutes after we got home they delivered my washer and dryer, talk about service!

That night we ate at the famous Lost Pizza company
in Indianola, well they ate I had a small salad then Punkin and I went to Wal-mart.

I took them to my favorite furniture store.
I still have a few pieces I want and need and the kids wanted to see the store that I had told them about.

A and I have many more places that we want to shop and eat at so during harvest we are planning another visit. And may I add that I didn't not get glutened one time. I explained my problem and they were very cordial in helping me even when I ordered a salad with croutons at Lost Pizza Company and had to send it back.

After this they had to return to the farm and we had to get back to work in the hills! We plan to go down and pick up a few more things from the farm soon so I'll see them then.

Don't forget my giveaway, please enter for a chance to win!!!

Photos of Punkin:
I like Gammy's new bed.

I love Gammy's rocking chair but I think it's silly to just sit there so I stand a bit. They finally took it away from me. :(

Thanks for visiting with me and again don't forget the giveaway!
