Sharing Easter

Easter is over but I'm still spending a lot of time in Starkvegas. My daughter called me Monday morning to tell me the grand-babies were both sick. She had a doctors appointment on Tuesday and I was to go baby sit for her so we decided that I would go early and help out with the babies. It's a good thing I did my Punkin has strep and has been really sick, we took her to the doctor today and they gave her a shot so she should be feeling better soon!

Here are a few shots I wanted to share from Easter. We had a great time with my Dad and our youngest children on Saturday and then after church on Sunday we road over to visit with Steve's family. We had not seen some of them in a while so that was fun too! I didn't get many photos there because I was too busy visiting.

Remember the cupcakes I made for Punkin to decorate, well here she is with one of them. We had a great time and believe it or not she didn't lick a one of them.

After our Easter egg hunt we had a photo shoot!

Four Generations with the newest addition to our family.

Sarah and Lida were not with us for Easter but i had to share this, she is growing up so fast.

I haven't seen any Easter pictures of Mary and her family or I would be sure to share them too.

So when the babies are better and I can return home maybe I can start cooking again and share some more great recipes, I have a few in mind now.

Take care and I hope your Easter was as happy as ours.

Thanks for stopping by y'all and please come again soon!

It's A

Since the night Ashia announced to us that she was going to have another baby I have been saying, "honey it's a boy". At first she would always say, "MOM you don't know". Then after a while she began to think it was a boy too.

Monday I went to Starkvegas to spend some time playing with big sister Austin and we were able to go with Mom and Dad to see baby ?.

I am one blessed Grandmother I already have four grand-daughters who are precious and one grand-son who is a doll. And NOW God is blessing us with another.......

BOY!!!

Who would have thought it? I tell you it's a special thing that God has given me with my children I just knew.

Big sister is beginning to comprehend (I think) that she is going to have a baby. She says, "baebae budder waa waa waa". She is soo cute.

Thanks for stopping by y'all and please come again soon!

Lida Biruhtesfa Varner

Man I can't believe that I have not blogged THIS I have something that I have been wanting to shout from the rooftop for months now! It's hard for me to keep a secret but hey I did it and now is the time to tell. I now have FIVE grandchildren y'all.

Our middle daughter Sarah and our son Eric now have a baby girl whose name is Lida Biruhtesfa Varner.

When looking up the meaning of Lida's name this was found.... Lida "loved by the people" and Biruhtesfa "A bright future". I don't know about you but this gives me chill bumps.

My daughter Mary called to our attention the verse Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. NIV We are claiming this for our Lida. This is a special verse for me because God game it to me while facing trials in Guatemala and I used it as the theme for Honey and my wedding.

Friends I can't tell you how excited and blessed we are! We already had four precious grandchildren and can't wait to meet our new one.

 She's beautiful, she's precious, she's perfect and she's ours!

We have been sooo excited these last few months waiting and praying. Wow now I have five grand-babies to pray for what a responsibility but what an honor!

A Forever Family.....at Last! Born in the Heart and United by Love!

Thanks for stopping by y'all and please come again soon.

Day Two

The girls were so good this morning, the next two days of school are party days so they were ready.

Emma was able to wear her jammies today, what fun. I wish I could wear my jammies to the grocery store and hospital but I'm thinking I had better get dressed! They were having a "Polar Expess Day" at school.

Alayna was having a  normal school day but with the party beginning. I can't wait to hear their stories of what they did today.

We slipped away to the hospital while the girls were at school. Poor baby didn't stand at chance when these two grandparents got our hands on him. He is such a little man (very little)!

I know I look awful but I am happy, Joshua even thought I looked awful!

We had a little talk, then Pepaw and I left to go take care of the girls.

He makes the funniest faces.

Ashia this ones for you. Look what they use with their babies in the hospital here!

After we fed them we took the girls back to the hospital. I hope Josh is ready for this, they are sure excited and plan to well take care of him.

They've got a lot to learn, they do pretty well holding him but when they are ready to hand him over to someone they just push him forward and let go. George spent a lot of time tonight explaining how careful they have to be. My THREE babies Wow!

My Diet....
I bet your thinking what are you eating all this time? While the kids and Pepaw have donuts for breakfast, a family tradition anytime we visit out kids, I have General Mills Ceral or a piece of toast and coffee.

When I arrived Sunday Mary had bought me a bag of groceries in it was "Ener-G Tapoica Loaf".  While this isn't my favorite bread it is good to have something different once in a while. I've really enjoyed the small sandwiches I've been able to have. The bread I keep on hand is large slices and I have to eat a lot of half of sandwiches.

She had also bought, "Blue Diamond Natural Nut-Thins" these have been really good with Mississippi States, "Edom Cheese". Thank you George for sharing your cheese with us.

Celiac & Pregnancy: Wow, This was ME and I'm just now discovering it!

It took me years to get pregnant with Ashia; we had decided that I would not be able to conceive, I had endometriosis but did not know that I had Celiac. I also had a miscarriage after Ashia and now I look back and I understand why I had such a hard time. Maybe this will be helpful to someone who is suffering from infertility.

Taken from Jens Gluten Free Blog

Pregnancy is a much talked about issue in the gluten-free community. Many are all too well aware that undiagnosed celiac disease can lead to fertility issues. Firstly, women with undiagnosed celiac disease often have delayed onset of menstruation and early onset of menopause reducing their opportunity for pregnancy. Throw in the unpredictable menstrual cycles and you have significantly reduced your chance of getting pregnant. In fact, according to the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness, up to 39% of women with undiagnosed celiac disease do not even get their periods.

The effect of undiagnosed celiac disease with regard to infertility in women is well documented, but what many don’t know is that undiagnosed celiac disease causes fertility issues in men as well. It causes malnutrition, and it alters the shape and motility of sperm. So if you are a couple having a difficult time getting pregnant, or you know a couple who fits that description, both the husband and the wife should be tested for celiac disease.

Miscarriage is also a large factor in pregnancies of women with undiagnosed celiac disease. Miscarriages occur 31% more often in women with undiagnosed celiac disease than in the regular population. One reason might be that the anti-TTG antibody which is functional during an immune response to gluten actually binds to the placenta compromising its functionality.

The good news is that once a celiac is diagnosed and she maintains a strictly gluten-free diet her chances of becoming pregnant and having a healthy baby are the same as the general population. A woman should be on the gluten-free diet for 6 months to two years (depending on her age and relative state of health) before she tries to get pregnant.

As we know celiac disease is a genetic disease so if you are a celiac the chances of your baby having it are higher than a baby with parents who are not celiacs. Nursing your child, particularly during the time the baby is introduced to gluten, delays onset of the disease (it might even prevent it, researches are still unsure). Researchers are unclear about the appropriate time to introduce the child to gluten. Originally it was thought 4-7 months was appropriate, but now it is believed that after a year is advisable, and it might be better to delay it even longer. A child cannot be tested for celiac disease unless he or she has been exposed to gluten.

Because the treatment for celiac disease is a special diet and not a medication, pregnancy is a very viable option for celiacs. Often with other diseases women are taking drugs that are contra-indicated for pregnancy, and they either have to get off that drug and suffer the consequences of their diseases, or they have to give up the dream of becoming pregnant. The celiac population have a lot to be thankful for. The treatment for their disease actually makes it safer for them to have a baby.
