Look What I have found

The gluten free community is getting almost scary. Let me explain, when I started eating gf there was very little available here in the south. Now I can find almost anything that I need right here without ordering on line.

Recently I was flipping through the abc distributing catalog and just as I thought there was nothing I wanted I came to

so yes I have one ordered. Then I also ordered

I am sooo excited about these books. I have looked at several on-line but always undecided on what to get, these were such a bargain I couldn't resist!

I recently received them and they are great.

The inside of the Gluten Free cookbook  has a section on How to eat Gluten Free and love it. Plus it has a list of items that contain gluten, may contain gluten or have no gluten. It contains a lot of great sounding gluten free recipes that I can't wait to try out.

The Allergy Free cookbook contains a section on the basics of allergy free cooking. It has list of different items to keep on hand for cooking free of gluten, dairy, nuts and eggs.  It too has several wonderful sounding gluten free recipes that I plan to try soon.

So if you or a loved one has food allergies in any of these areas you too should order a copy while supplies last!

One of Four Shabtai Gourmet Gluten Free Food Reviews

I have done many food reviews with a lot of great food, so when I was contacted by Shabtai I questioned whether it would be as good as the rest. I was in Colorado at the time and by the time I returned home my package had arrived.

The minute I opened the big brown cardboard box I know that I was in for a treat. Oh, my I gained weight just looking at these wonderful treats!

Honey and I had decided that we need to cut back on our calories so I started thinking up creative ways to try and enjoy these handsome delights without consuming all of them right by myself, which I could easily do. I had committed myself to keeping our youngest granddaughter for a day while her mom worked so I decided that I would take one item and share with the family. Out of all my daughters this is the pickiest eater so I thought that too would be a good thing, I could also get the input of her family.

We chose the Swiss Chocolate Roll, some liked it better than others. To me it was like eating a Little Debbie Ding Dong. Everyone agreed that it was very moist but some felt the chocolate was a little strong. I was going to eat a piece and leave the rest but since the kids didn't just love it I couldn't stand the idea of them possibly throwing it out so guess what? Right, I brought it home and finished eating it myself I think I've gained two pounds so I'll have to wait and try my other Sabtai items later. To me it was great, it was moist and very chocolaty with a sugary creme filling, if you like the Little Debbie Ding Dong you would love the Swiss Chocolate Roll.
Here's a little more about this great bakery!

Shabtai Gourmet is a unique Gluten Free Bakery line specializing in Gluten Free, Lactose Free, Soy Free, Casein Free, Peanut Free and Dairy Free Cakes and Cookies. Shabtai has brought a fresh and exciting new approach to allergen free baking. Shabtai and his family owned bakery has grown over the years, yet has never lost its old world out of this world taste.

While many gluten free bakeries use the same available ingredients, very few bakers have the creativity, patience, and talent to turn an ordinary pound of ingredients into an exquisitely crafted pound of scrumptious cake.

Shabtai’s mission is to produce allergen free desserts that allow you to feel comfortable with your dietary restrictions. With products like our Swiss Chocolate Roll, Raspberry Rolls, and Florentine Lace Cookie – you can start enjoying cakes and cookies that you would never have thought were available as gluten free! Actually, we get numerous calls from excited customers asking if what they just ate was really gluten free! We encourage you and your friends and family to try what so many people are raving about-and don’t be surprised when they don’t believe it’s gluten free!

Our Colorado Trip

We just returned from visiting our daughter and her family in Colorado. We had a wonderful time and I was in gluten free heaven.

I'm going to let my photos tell our story, click on it to enlarge or you can also go to my webshot album to see a larger view!

Our plane was to leave out of Jackson Thursday morning. Jackson is about 1-1/2 hrs drive from our house. On Wednesday it started to sleet and snow so we left and went to a hotel for the night so that we would be sure and get to the airport. Here Honey is finishing up last minute work and I am sporting my new hair cut as we get packed to leave.

Views around Sarah's house...

Friday morning I took photos of the view from our daughter's home. Later that morning we went to "Granny's Gluten Free Zone" to pick up a few items for my stay! Being in the South we don't have stores such as this, I was in heaven.  Then we met our son-in-law Eric for lunch at "The Rustic Oven" and guess what? I was able to order gf pizza and it was wonderful!!!

After lunch we drove to Cheyenne, Wyoming so that I could shop at "Sierra Trading Post" and we could possibly see some buffalo. God was good and we did both. I had asked Sarah to take me boot shopping and this is where she chose.

I bought Patagonia's in a dark brown and I love them!!! They'll be great to wear for cool or very cold weather! For very cold weather I also bought Carhartt boot socks and they are the best! Thanks Sarah!!!

Thursday night we met Eric for supper at an Ethiopian restaurant "Ras-ka" in Fort Collins. The food was a bit spicy but very good. Since Eric and Sarah are waiting to adopt from Ethiopia getting to know Hannah (the owner) was a blessing. She had some very wise words for them. We left in tears knowing that we had made a new friend.

Until we get our Ethiopian babies these are our grand-children. We had no problems they were very well behaved. They were brought in to the downstairs area at night. Honey looked down and told them good-night and we laughed that it was like looking into a zoo.

On Saturday we went to "Estes Park" I love this place. This time we took a ghost tour at "The Stanley Hotel" it is sooo rich in history and I loved it. After our tour we had lunch at "Mary's Lake Lodge Resort" it was wonderful I had a huge hamburger gluten free of course without the bun.

We saw lots and lots of Elk.

On Sunday we attended church and then had a steak lunch and lazy afternoon of movies and fun.

Monday was Valentines Day, Sarah took us to Boulder while Eric worked. We enjoyed lunch at "4580" where I had a gf hamburger bun and all with fries. Man o man can you imagine? The bun was flaky like a croissant and it was wonderful. After lunch we enjoyed walking in and out of the different shops and riding around town. I had to take a photo when we passed the Rudi's distribution center. I saw their bakery on the way to the airport in Denver.

Monday night was a special night. We had "Beaujo's Colorado Style Pizza" and it was wonderful. Then Eric had picked us all up a special candy coated caramel apple! It was so good Honey and I shared one but I'm still thinking I should have eaten the whole thing. Great food and spending time with those you love isn't that what Valentines is all about?

Before leaving for the airport on Tuesday we had a photo shoot. Then went and visited the welcome center so we could see a mountain lion up close and personal.

Honey had heard about a restaurant called "The Buckhorn Exchange" on the travel channel and he told Sarah that was the one place that he wanted to go. It was located near the train depot in the heart of Denver and when we first got into the area we all wondered if we really wanted to eat there. Let me tell you, YES WE DID. All three of us LOVED this place we were just sad that Eric had to work and wasn't with us. I walked around taking photos until our food arrived and then I just wanted to eat. I think Honey and Sarah went to one more area but here are the photos that I took.

So this completes our trip to Colorado, we had such a good time. I"m looking forward to visiting again in the future and I won't wait as long as I did this time.

Thanks for stopping by ya'll I hope you enjoyed our trip as much as we did!

College students can now review their college for it's level of "Gluten Free Friendliness".

They have added a feature on GlutenFreeTravelSite ( http://www.glutenfreetravelsite.com ) that enables gluten-free college students to review colleges and universities for their degree of "gluten-free friendliness." Reviewers simply follow the steps for Submitting a Review ( http://www.glutenfreetravelsite.com/submit.php ) as they would for a restaurant, store, hotel, or resort, but they choose "college" when prompted for the type of establishment they're reviewing.

By adding colleges as a choice of venues to be reviewed, GlutenFreeTravelsite gives college students a way to share their feedback -- both positive and negative -- with current and prospective students who follow gluten-free diets.

Please help us spread the word so that we can help as many gluten-free teenagers as possible as they embark upon their college selection process. To read more about this new feature, see our Blog post ( http://www.glutenfreetravelblog.typepad.com ) or read our Press Release ( http://www.prweb.com/releases/glutenfreemeals/collegecampuses/prweb5047544.htm ).

Thanks for stopping by ya'll I'm working on the photos of the Colorado trip so come again soon!

SuperBowl Sunday

I recently went and visited the church Ben and Ash attend Pinelake and had a great time.  It is exciting to see what God is doing in the community there and how my children are a part of this.

It was Chinese New Year and Ash really has a heart for China and to one day have a child from there. My Punkin dressed in her Chinese outfit for church and she was a doll!! Remember you can click on the picture to enlarge it so that you can see it better, I don't want you to miss out!

We came home just in time to get ready for Superbowl weekend. This is the first time EVER that Honey and I were alone to watch the superbowl but we made the best of it. I made Banana muffins from some bananas that I needed to use and also some Chips and Rotel to eat with our mexican casserole. The food and company was good just a little quiet, maybe next year we'll go celebrate with some of our kids.

Thanks for stopping by ya'll and come back soon....

Progressive Gluten Free

If you eat gluten free you MUST try Progresso's gluten free soups. Now don't preach to me, I know that processed soups aren't as good as homemade nor are they as good for you but sometimes we get in a tight and need a quick meal.

With tax time upon us who doesn't need a quick meal now and then. Once in a while, well more than that, I look up and it's past meal time and I have nothing ready to eat. So during our cold weather when this happened I pulled out a can of soup to give it a try and it was great.

I was gonna eat half the can and I ended up eating the whole thing.

I love the rich creamy texture of the New England Clam Chowder. So buy a can or two and the next time you're in a tight try it, you'll be glad you did.

Oh My, She's Twenty Seven?

We recently had a busy but fun weekend.

Punkin came to visit again.

She took my slippers off and ran with them. Since she rain in the direction of the garbage can I just knew that's where I would find them. The kitchen window? Not what I was expecting...

We took care of Punkin some so that her Dad and Mom could make trips from Starkvegas to the Hills. This child loves her Baby Einstein movies it's amazing to me that a 16-month old will sit in front of a tv like this.

We had friends from Florida visit who are more like family to us. While living in Guatemala God sent this couple to be my parents and Ash's grand-parents. We always look forward to being able to get together and catch up with them.  I was thinking today it had been a little over a year since we had seen them.

Punkin had to show Mama Marion her jewelry box.

On January 31st 27 years ago I was blessed with a beautiful baby girl and she remains a blessing to me today also. I am thankful for the times that we share, as I write this I am getting ready to go to her house.

Punkin didn't understand what was happening she wouldn't help sing, carry the cake or blow out the candle.

She did help with eating it though.

Dressed for church....

Punkin and I both dressed in our Matilda Jane for church. Sorry the photo doesn't show more we were in a hurry.

Her favorite thing, talking on the phone.

And after church Papaw came into town.

We went to a museum out to eat several times and just chilled at home. It was a fun time with family celebrating with A!
